In December of 2001, Laurinda Publications was
started with a simple idea: to give the county its own
monthly magazine filled with editorial and advertisements
pertaining specifically to life in Union County. Thus, the
then-four person company began publishing
Union County
Voice, which was and still is the only monthly lifestyle
magazine dedicated to local coverage of current events and
issues affecting the county residents.
Just shy of three years later, Laurinda Publications was
approached to collaborate with Atlantic Health Systems in
publishing a Health & Lifestyle magazine for one of the most
prestigious and progressive hospitals in the state: Overlook
Hospital.
Overlook View, which won the Gold Aster
Award and the MarCom Creative Award for Excellence in
Media Marketing in 2006 and reaches over 110,000 readers
throughout some of the most affluent communities in Central
New Jersey.
In August of 2005, Laurinda Publications had grown as a
company, with the size of the staff having doubled and they
continued to expand even further when they began publishing
Monmouth County Voice Magazine, as well. In essence,
the goal of the company is to fulfill this niche for all of
the counties throughout New Jersey: “Let Every County Have A
Voice.” Monmouth County Voice has a readership of over
75,000.
Last May, Laurinda Publications was pleased to be asked by
the township of
Warren to publish a magazine to commemorate the town’s
bicentennial. The
Warren Bicentennial was a fifty-page magazine, filled
with historical facts, photos
and stories, as well as anniversary celebration information.
Laurinda was proud to be a part of creating this once in a
lifetime piece of the county’s history.
When the Union County Freeholders decided to put out a
similar commemorative
publication in honor of
Union County’s 150th anniversary, they
came to Laurinda
Publications. Coming in May 2007, this collectible magazine,
which will be packed
with stories about the rich history of the twenty-one town
county, will also provide
residents with a valuable resource for knowing what, when
and where celebration
activities will be held throughout the year.
During an economic era when small businesses are being
replaced by huge
national conglomerates, Laurinda Publications, which is a
minority-owned,
self-sustaining business, has managed to grow. The success
of the company is entirely due to the hard work and
determination of the dedicated staff who have a genuine
belief in the quality of their magazines.
